Dr. Janie Wilson is Professor and Director of the School of Biomedical Engineering, an adjunct Professor of the Department of Surgery, and a co-Director of the Dynamics of Human Motion (DOHM) Lab at Dalhousie University in Nova Scotia, Canada. She is also an Affiliate Scientist with Nova Scotia Health. Dr. Wilson has a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics and Engineering from Queen’s University (2000), followed by a Master of Applied Science (2002) and a PhD (2007) in Biomedical Engineering from Dalhousie University. She has worked at the M.E. Muller Institute for Surgical Technology and Biomechanics in Bern, Switzerland (2002-2003), and has had postdoctoral training at the University of Cape Town and the Sport Science Institute of South Africa (2007-2008). She runs an interdisciplinary research program in orthopaedic and musculoskeletal biomechanics, with a focus on the integration of biomechanics outcomes into clinical orthopaedics, and biomechanical and statistical modeling. She has more than 150 published manuscripts and abstracts in this field. She is the past president of the Canadian Society for Biomechanics, a former president of the Canadian Orthopaedic Research Society and is a Fellow of the International Combined Orthopaedic Research Societies. She previously held a faculty position as Professor of Surgery, McMaster University (2018-2021).
